1.4472 Implant medical alloy is a Pressurised Electro-Slag Remelted (PESR) austentic stainless steel. It combines a high Nitrogen, Chromium and Manganese content along with a low Carbon and Sulphur content giving it a high toughness, good pitting resistance and close to zero delta-ferrite content.
This alloy can only be hardened through cold-working and it's excellent mechanical properties, fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance make it an ideal choice for a wide range of medical applications in the area of bone surgery, internal fixation devices and end-prosthesis. The tight controls of this alloy provide a high level of consistency and repeatability making it an prime choice for micro-mechanical devices.
1.4472 Implant is well adapted for both mirror polishing and electropolishing. This alloys meets the requirements for surgical implants as defined in ASTM F1586.
